Voidism

Voidism is one of the two core religions of the Diarchy, and the antithesis to Photism.

Its central religious figure is Blackhole. Whilst it shares the Photist belief that Galaxy created both the universe and Blackhole himself, it posits that Galaxy was a narcissistic and tyrannical god, who doomed the universe with selfishness and greed. Blackhole’s role, it proposes, is to undo her failed creation and – depending on your belief – either usher in the birth of a new and flawless world, or put an end to all existence, and with it, all suffering.

The religion is reputed to have originated on the planet Avernion, following the discovery of Blackhole by the dhraktyl sorcerer Necronyx. For most of its history, it was a minority faith, largely disregarded for its association with doomsday cults. In recent years, however, due to the rising threat of Blackhole’s impending destruction of the universe, Voidism has undergone a rapid expansion, having gained enough ground to threaten Photism’s position as the Milky Way Galaxy’s majority religion.

A practitioner of Voidism is known as a Voidist.

There are many sects of Voidism, but the largest by far is the Order of the Event Horizon. Founded by Necronyx himself, and led by the political Void Council, they are a theocratic order, whose goal is to seize control of the universe in Blackhole’s name, so that they might expedite its reckoning. Another major, more moderate sect is the Cult of the Maw.
