Voltrus

Voltrus is a self-replicating and invasive parasite native to the planet Dirthranix.

Drawn to electricity like a moth to a flame, the voltrus parasite seeks out anything that carries an electrical signal. Once it finds a host, whether machine or living being, the parasite burrows deep inside, anchoring itself to their circuitry or nervous system. Once hooked up and connected, it begins leeching off them, disrupting their electronic workings and ultimately leading to complete systemic shutdown – whether through mechanical failure in machines, or neurological collapse in living organisms.

Voltrus is particularly terrifying to the electrically attuned yomonches of Dirthranix, which produce electronic signals from their noses to communicate amongst their own kind. These signals are like homing beacons to voltrus, and it is highly deadly to them.

Though rare, there have been several documented cases since Dirthranix’s discovery of voltrus infections found inside computers and robots, and the Orion Corporation are on high alert for a full-blown outbreak.
