2D Environment Artist
Role: Freelance 2D Environment Artist
Project: Star Heretic
Studio: Cult of Galaxy
Location: Remote
Cult of Galaxy is seeking a talented freelance 2D environment artist to help bring the vibrant worlds of Star Heretic to life! Our game is a 2D space-fantasy platformer in the metroidvania style, set across multiple planets. Each world features distinct, atmospheric zones, from lush jungles and ancient caves to underwater ruins, and we’re looking for an artist who can help us build immersive, memorable environments for players to explore.
You can learn more about our studio and the project here.
Initial paid contract
We are looking for an artist for an initial, paid contract to produce a set of environmental assets for one of Star Heretic’s key levels. This project is a great way for us to start a collaboration, with the potential for more work on the game’s other worlds in the very near future.
This first contract is for a rainforest-themed area. We will provide a style guide and reference artwork, already sized to our technical requirements, to ensure you have a clear creative direction.
Deliverables
We require the following assets, delivered as high-resolution PNGs:
- 3 × Ferns
- 4 × Mossy rocks
- 5 × Ruined rubble pieces
- 2 × Trees
- 3 × Vines
Budget and terms
As a new indie studio, we are currently establishing our budget for art assets. We invite you to please include your quote for this specific body of work in your application. Your quote will be a key part of our consideration, and will help us determine a fair market rate for this project and for future collaborations.
50% will be paid upon project commencement, and the remaining 50% will be paid upon project completion.
- Payment: We pay 50% upon project commencement and the remaining 50% upon final delivery of the assets.
